Your favorite beans are back!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody!!!

Oh how we’ve missed you so! I won’t get too depressing on ya But I do want to say sorry and explain why we haven’t been blogging. Poppa bean fell ill and has been in and out of the hospital, momma beans had some health issues and bean 1 also now has a diagnosis which I may share more about in the near future. So needless to say we’ve been to busy with Dr’s and appts to blog. But we are all okay, everyone is doing better. Praise God!

Coffee can get ya through anything!

This bean family is still as madly in love as ever with coffee. Bean 2 is also sneaking around stealing sips from our cups, even the baby bean loves it.

We are very excited to announce that we are in CA!!!!!!!!!!! We are also hitting up Vegas.

So we have some awesome coffee shops to share with you all. Today there is no coffee shop review but just an update that were back. We hope you all have stuck with us and will continue on this journey along with us. Spread the word, the beans are back!!!!!

Jo jacked up prices

Jo Jacks Espresso bar
5700 Churchland Blvd
Portsmouth, VA

Today was an adventure for sure. We decided to go somewhere momma and baby beans have never even been before. Portsmouth! We really enjoyed it there!!

Our first stop was coffee, of course. The thing is, for the first time in history momma and poppa bean have completely different opinions. So different, that were going to have to right seperate reviews. Starting with momma bean. Momma bean really really likes Jo jacks. I thought it was unique. They had a very delicious drink selection, a real good variety of coffee drinks. I had a real hard time choosing between the cookie dough frap and the Irishman which had vanilla, caramel, and irish cream. The irish cream drink ultimately won, as it usually does with me. It was extremely good. They had a pretty good food menu. Momma bean had the chicken caesar which is just like the usual salad but in a wrap, it even had the croutons, so good! The place was a little small for my taste, but i really liked the private backroom where we sat, perfect for the kids. The best part for momma and baby beans was that they had baskets of toys to play with. We picked a basket, brought it to the table, and the kids were happy while we enjoyed our drinks. Going above and beyond for the kids like that will always win points with me. This is a great place your whole family can enjoy. Although I must warn you, its pricey. If your in a hurry they even have a drive thru. Momma beans scores are as follows…

And as for grumpy ol poppa bean, this place rubbed him the wrong way all around. He didnt like how small and crowded it was. He didnt think there was anything special or unique about it. He couldn’t find anything on the menu he would eat. He thought the staff was rude. What really got to him was the prices. Momma beans drink was almost 6 dollars for a small frap with only one shot of espresso. Thats just not right. He compared it to a run down diner without any good diner food. Anyone that knows poppa bean knows hes not one to hold back. Haha! Beware, poppa beans scores…

Coffee for a cause

Sorry beans, we havent been posting due to momma beans health. Momma bean is suffering from heat exsaustion and dehydration and that means, NO COFFEE!!!! Gasp!!! It truly is as dreadful as it sounds. But, shes on the mend. Thank you so much loyal and faithful followers. Also welcome new followers, fellow bloggers who have subscribed to our blog lately. We look foward to catching up and getting to know your stories and families through your blogs as well.

Today we ventured out for the first time, and we stayed close to home. We went to a great little place in Williamsburg called, “The Coffeehouse.”

5251-6 John Tyler Highway
Williamsburg, VA

We happen to know a little backround on this place through things weve heard and seen through the community. We know its a family run business, which is so valueable these days. The family is kind hearted, they do and give a lot to the local church, this is a great place who cares about giving back.

So, what about the coffee??

Well, I must say, momma bean has had hundreds of iced mochas in many different states and this one is absolutely the best! They roast their own beans, in store, which we always love! They sell a yummy variety of fresh blends. They also have a nice food menu. All in all, its a wonderful place, a hidden treasure you should check out next time your in the area. Dont forget to tell them bean brigade sent ya. Until next time, enjoy your sip, wherever you sip. Onto the bean score…

Vegan bean!

Harrison street cafe in Richmond is a buried treasure. It doesnt look like much from the outside, or inside for that matter but dont let apperance fool ya! Specialty coffee and food so good that it arracts everyone you can think of. In the little time we spent there we saw your average coffee drinkers, business men in suits, hippies, punk rockers, and even a gangster or two.

Momma bean had a triple mocha latte, that was totally incredible! Poppa bean enjoyed their dark roast, fair trade, organic coffee. The food was to die for! With the mantra, “great eats, no meats” they offer a full menu of vegan and vegetarian delights! Breakfast lunch and dinner, everything you can think of! Vegan omlettes, breakfast burritos, vegan chicken fried steak and chicken pot pie. They also have plenty of delicious dairy options. Momma bean had a huge breakfast burrito packed with egg, tomato, potato, yummy fake sausage and cheese. Poppa bean had the vegan burrito with eggs, sausage, and hot sauce. No body is surprised to hear that bean 1 had chocolate milk and bean 2 had yogurt and fruit. All the food and coffee was truly amazing.¬† I must say, it wasnt particularly kid friendly. They didn’t even have highchairs. BUT on the way we noticed the most awesome park. So after coffee, the park was a nice, short walk away. Perfect location!

See ya tomorrow friends!

Beach Bean! The adventure begins…

One morning while Poppa Bean was sleeping in Momma Bean decided it was time for a trip to the beach.  Before Poppa Bean could even get out of bed, the bags were packed and ready to go.  We grabbed our two sweet boys and strapped them in their carseats for our first coffee fueled adventure!  Bean 1 (3 years) could hardly contain himself, he wanted to bring home every seashell in sight.  Bean 2 (1 year) thought the best way to enjoy the beach was to taste every grain of sand.  It was a mess! Of course how we start each new day is with a stop to the local coffee shop!

Morning View Coffee

Morning View Coffee was hands down one of the best coffee shop experiences ever . The coffee shop art and drink names matched their hometown themes. They had painted Surf and Skateboards on the wall, a grass tiki hut for their coffee bar, with comfy couches to lounge around in. This place was perfect. They had their own cool¬†t-shirt design which came in multiple cuts and bright colors. They even had extremely fast service.¬† There was only one employee, but she knocked out a whole line in minutes.¬† Momma Bean had the iced mocha latte with tiramisu, and Poppa Bean had the Morning View original the Nor’easter.¬† It consists of mocha, hazelnut, vanilla, with chocolate whip.¬† I must say it was a unique name that fit the beach scene perfectly with a great flavor.¬† Now….for the rating!
