Super bean

Crossroads is a wonderful coffee shop, with two locations in Richmond. They have great coffee and yummy food. They have a lot of vegan friendly options. Their vegan chocolate chip cookies are to die for! Its a cool place inside, colorful, lots of seating and lots of board games to play. They have a big outdoor seating patio area as well.

It was here that I was introduced to something truly life changing for coffee lovers. Drum roll please…

“Thai coffee” Have ya’ll heard of this??? Its black coffee AND espresso with sweetened condensed milk. It is just the right blend of everything. Such a good and different flavor. Not to sweet, not to bitter. Very, very powerful. It is definetly one of my new favorites!

Baby beans were asleep in the car, so momma bean just ran in for a drink and a few pictures.

It was clearly very popular because it was crowded and they have two locations in Richmond.

We went to the 26 N. Morris street location by the way.

Uplifting bean

What a cool place! Lift coffee shop really does lift your mood. The atmosphere, the tranquil colors, the comfy pillow seating. It is a breath of fresh air. A very different coffee shop in a very good way. The staff was friendly. The coffee was nothing to rave about unfortunately. We would like to go back and try a flavored drink, because we both got non sweetened lattes. Overall good experience. We will definitely be back. Nothing special for the kiddos, but it would make a perfect place for a date or moms day out.

Vegan bean!

Harrison street cafe in Richmond is a buried treasure. It doesnt look like much from the outside, or inside for that matter but dont let apperance fool ya! Specialty coffee and food so good that it arracts everyone you can think of. In the little time we spent there we saw your average coffee drinkers, business men in suits, hippies, punk rockers, and even a gangster or two.

Momma bean had a triple mocha latte, that was totally incredible! Poppa bean enjoyed their dark roast, fair trade, organic coffee. The food was to die for! With the mantra, “great eats, no meats” they offer a full menu of vegan and vegetarian delights! Breakfast lunch and dinner, everything you can think of! Vegan omlettes, breakfast burritos, vegan chicken fried steak and chicken pot pie. They also have plenty of delicious dairy options. Momma bean had a huge breakfast burrito packed with egg, tomato, potato, yummy fake sausage and cheese. Poppa bean had the vegan burrito with eggs, sausage, and hot sauce. No body is surprised to hear that bean 1 had chocolate milk and bean 2 had yogurt and fruit. All the food and coffee was truly amazing.  I must say, it wasnt particularly kid friendly. They didn’t even have highchairs. BUT on the way we noticed the most awesome park. So after coffee, the park was a nice, short walk away. Perfect location!

Jumping bean

Today we went to THE BEST coffee shop for parents! Its the most brilliant idea for a coffee shop. The cute name matches its cute and quirky style. Im talking about a lovely place called, “Cartwheels and coffee.” While the parents sit back and relax the kids can play on an assortment of toys. There is a kitchen, a stage with costumes, trains, basketball, ride on toys, a trampoline, rock wall and slide and more. The owner is the pastor of the church next door, the Byrd theatre. He is a very nice and genuine guy. The staff is always very friendly, bubbly, and quick with anything you need. There is a minimal fee for kids and you can play all day. All and all, its a wonderful place in a fun location on Cary st. So be sure to check it out if you are in the area. Lets cartwheel our way onto the scores…

(By the way this was the blog for 5/7 but my phone was acting up and it wouldnt post so this is yesterday’s blog, you can look foward to another one coming later today)
